Course Description
Our Transition/Vocational PLC (Professional Learning Community) will
meet monthly to learn about best practices in education as well as learn about topics that will help us support our students in continuing to improve their post secondary outcomes.
September-Person centered planning (Goal: To learn about and plan for person centered planning)
October-Colleges and gap year programs (Goal: To learn about colleges and gap year programs for students with disabilities)
November-Social recreations/camp opportunities (Goal: To learn about social and recreational camp opportunities for individuals with disabilities)
December-Future planning (e.g.SSI, SSDI) (Goal: To learn about planning for the future in relationship to SSI and SSDI)
January-Legal (Indicator 13) *TBD (Goal: Learning how to write legally compliant Transition Plans using indicator 13)
February-Vocational support/linkages (Little City, DRS, WIPA, adult voc agencies) (Goal: To learn about linkages or connections that we can make to support students' employment)
March-Parent panel (Goal: To learn, from parents, about what they are thankful their child learned as well as what they wish they had learned while in transition services)
April-Creative Housing Solutions- CCHI, Center for Independent Futures, Our Place/Our House (Goal: To learn about creative housing options for young adults with disabilities)
May-Support for families, resources, sibling groups (Goal: To learn about various support groups available to families and siblings of individuals with disabilities)

Who Should Attend: Staff who support transition age students (transition staff, vocational
staff)
Satisfactory completion requirements:
- Attendance is based on your signature in and out of the session. Failure to provide a signature in and out will result in no credit. Virtual attendance is taken via completion of a Form using a hyperlink or QR code.
- Participants are expected to attend the entire session to earn credit.
- Participants are expected to attend all sessions in their entirety (9 sessions, 7 remote and 2 in person (location TBD) to earn credit.
- Participants must complete an electronic course evaluation within two weeks of the session date to be sent a certificate.

Cost Information: Participation fees are waived for TrueNorth employees, TrueNorth member district employees, and parents of students in our TrueNorth member districts. For individual participants who do not meet the above criteria, this course participation fee is $300.00. Participation or material fees will be billed directly to the school district that employs the participant after the session is complete or the first session in a series is complete. Individuals are asked to not bring payment to the session.
Cancellation and Refund Information: There is no cancellation fee, though we ask for advance notice to open the spot for another person. TrueNorth reserves the right to cancel any session due to low enrollment. TrueNorth does not charge prior to the start of the offered session. If an individual attends the first day of a learning series but is unable to attend the remaining sessions, the school district that employs the participant is able to designate an alternate person. It is up to the individual no longer attending the program to give their replacement the information learned in the first session.
